Ruth provides both infection prevention and control (IPC) and quality improvement services to a variety of healthcare settings, bringing with her a wealth of experience and a passion for these areas of patient quality and safety. As a Registered Nurse she has gained experience in the UK, Europe and Australasia. Ruth has specialised in IPC for the last 23 years, holding a number of qualifications in this speciality including a Masters Degree (Hons) in Infection Prevention and Control from Griffith University. She is currently in her final year of her PhD at the University of Sydney undertaking research in the field of IPC related to personal protective equipment. Ruth is also a qualified healthcare auditor.
Ruth is a credentialed member of the Australasian College for Infection Prevention and Control at expert level, and is an active member of the Infection Prevention and Control Nurses College, New Zealand. Currently Ruth is a member of the national Infection Control Expert Group in Australia which advises central government on COVID-19 related IPC matters. She also contributes to the NSW IPC Communities of Practice group for COVID-19.
Ruth provides client-focussed advice on quality management systems across a variety of sectors; with a particular interest in assisting healthcare organisations achieve certification against a range of healthcare standards. Ruth can assist your organisation with IPC education, compliance auditing against relevant standards, developing or updating IPC policies and procedures, surveillance programmes, and pandemic preparedness.
